Trans day of visibility by Hana Konatar

Hana Konatar writes about the Trans Day of Visibility:

“We do not celebrate the visibility of trans people today as a holiday to honor our bravery and resistance, but rather as crucified bodies that others point fingers at. Our experiences are presented to the public as propaganda, our needs as science fiction, our lives as a threat to the system, while we are faced daily with our worst fears! Being a visible trans person, being a trans person, means choosing oneself at the cost of one’s life!

I never deny that I personally, as a trans woman, am a threat to the system! A system of rigidity that oppresses everyone, sucks the life out of us, and leaves us with hatred towards ourselves that escalates into hatred towards others, towards those who are different! I am aware that our love is a revolution from which victories emerge, crowned with our greatest fears, stripped bare before ourselves and others, threatening a system of power based on patriarchy! I was not taught that I am someone else’s dinner, my honor was not presented as “keeping” or “losing” “virginity,” I do not have the biological ability to become pregnant and give birth. I know that this society is afraid of women it cannot enslave! I know that this society does not consider women who cannot be broken or objectified as women at all!

No, I am not saying that my transgender identity has isolated me from the oppression and influence of patriarchy or that any role or expectation, any biological possibility of cisgender women, determines me as more easily integrated into the rigidity of patriarchy. I am saying that the negative masculine principle does not understand how to manipulate transgender existence and turn it into a step towards the top of the pyramid, except by negating it or killing us! I am not grateful for the horrible experiences, but I am grateful for the awareness that people are horrified by those who live themselves for themselves and love themselves as they are, which is one reason why I adore my transgender identity! Just as it confronted me with freedom, it also confronts everyone with whom I have shared experiences. Being visible means fighting for freedom, for better laws, better health care, better society, and more authentic and beautiful lives!

Let it be a fighting day of visibility! 🦋🏳️‍⚧️ #transdayofvisibility”

Hana Konatar piše o Danu vidljivosti trans osoba:
